Stuff Scene Kids Like

Scene kids love versatiliy. Especially when it comes to how they style their hair. The trusty Chi allows scensters everywhere to pick between curly and straight, but extensions really let them switch things up.  Not only are extensions easier to take care of than actually having long hair, they’re easier to dye leopard print, and its way easier to cut hair when it isn’t actually on your head.

Hair extensions give scenesters as many different looks as they want. For a casual day, try the extension-free scene mop. Its great for grocery shopping in oversized sunglasses and pretending you’re Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. For a night on the town, dancing it up at your local dance club with an open bar, scenesters often opt for the “my hair is so long and perfectly curled on the bottom, there is no way its real…but it doesn’t matter, it’ll still help me get laid” look, with the more natural colored extensions they found at Sally Beauty.

When it comes to going to a show, the choices for different hair-do’s (or dont’s) gets a little hectic:
Scene girls usually opt for the “dirty paintbrush under my hair” style,  in all different random neon colors they could find in clip ins.
If a scene girl needs to show another scene girl up, there’s the “Myspace loves me more than you” look, where girls like Kiki Kannibal will go through her old ZooBooks magazine, and dye her extensions according to the patterns of her favorite animals.
For the younger scene girls, theres the “I don’t know if I want to be scene yet” look, where they will sporadically clip or glue in a few strands of brightly colored hair they yanked off of their old Betty Spagetti dolls, hoping to look cool.
The best of all scenesters hair comoddites at shows though, is the scene boy in extensions. At any large club show with remotely scene bands, there will always be the token scene boy who has extensions is to either complete his scene mullet, or give some color to his freshly straightened sideburns.

The idea of hair extensions is pretty silly, considering that it’s cheaper, and way less tacky to use your own hair if you are going to dye it or cut it ridiculously, but there is a method behind the madness of the hair extension craze. Lets say you are the baddest bitch the scene has ever scene, and you have the hair to go with it, but you’re going to see Bring Me The Horizon and you want to look hawtttt at the meet and greet after their set. If you have your own hair on your head looking that crazy, chances are it will get spit on, stepped on, or ripped out of your skull during the set. If you wear extensions, you can unclip them before the set, put your hair in a pony tail, and then reclip them after the set and before the meet and greet, so that you still look fly and have a better chance of getting some Oli dick in your mouth. Maybe it doesn’t make sense to you, but maybe you’re not that scene.

Hair extensions give scenesters the ability to rep their shit everywhere they go, reinforcing their individuality  with the hundreds of different looks they can create. Too bad scene kids think their clothes need to look like their hair, often leading to a neon zoo
